Carmen De Lorenzo is an instructor of Italian in the Department of Romance and Classical Studies. Since 2005 she has been teaching Italian and French at all levels.

In addition to teaching language courses, Carmen works on curriculum development for the 100 and 200 level Italian Program. In particular, she specializes in technology integration in the curriculum and use of technology in the classroom. She recently developed blended course formats for the first year of Italian courses and contributes to curriculum development for the MSU GATE program (Gifted and Talented Education) by introducing a new accelerated French class for high school students. She also develops for CLS (CeLTA Language School) interactive Italian classes for adults, which she is currently teaching. Another interest of Carmen is assessment and she is currently developing an Italian Placement test online.

In 2014 she was an Adams Academy Fellow and worked on Curriculum Design, Learners and Learning and Effective Teaching Methodologies.

Carmen is also the MSU Italian Club adviser and helps organizing cultural and pedagogical events like the Italian Carreer Event in Fall 2016 and Italian Americans in Detroit in Spring 2017. Prior to coming to MSU, Carmen taught Italian and French at the secondary and university level.
