MSU has organized a series of three workshops in FS20 and a MSU Faculty Roundtable in SS21 on the translation & interpreting field. Each workshop includes a language neutral section and a section with a target language (Japanese, French, or Spanish). All are welcome to attend the language neutral portion of each workshop. This is open to undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Each workshop will be three hours long (1.5 hours for non-language specific audiences and 1.5 hours for target language audiences). The non-language specific workshop will be organized around four key issues: (1) Navigating the paths to becoming a professional; (2) Scoping the field and its future; (3) Learning strategies and methodologies for translation and interpretation; and (4) Identifying resources for the profession. The language specific workshop will be a hands-on workshop focusing mainly on strategies and methodologies for translation and interpretation.
