INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY for MA Students: The Center for Applied Linguistics

The Department of Romance and Classical Studies has become aware of an internship opportunity for MA-level students, which can be completed remotely if needed. Please see below for the posting information.

The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL), located in Tenleytown in Washington DC, has opportunities for interns to work with our Psychometrics and Quantitative Research (PQR) team. The PQR team at CAL is responsible for data management, analysis, and reporting across a variety of assessments of English language proficiency, including ACCESS for ELLs, an assessment of English language proficiency administered annually to approximately 2 million K-12 students across 38 states.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the spring of 2020 from interns who are interested in learning on-the-job skills related to working with a professional team of data analysts and quantitative researchers. For this internship season, we are targeting students pursuing a Master’s degree. This is a paid internship opportunity.

To apply, please complete the CAL Intern Application Form on the following page: http://www.cal.org/who-we-are/career-opportunities/interns

In the “Topical Areas” field please indicate “Quantitative Research”. Please indicate if you are available for a part time and/or full time internship.

The intern application form and additional materials (cover letter, resume, transcript or list of courses, and either letters or details for two references) may be returned to interns@cal.org with a cc to Xin Yu, (xyu@cal.org) Quantitative Team Lead on the PQR team. For best consideration, please submit these materials by November 19, 2020.

CAL is committed to the health and safety of its employees, and has a robust telework environment in place. Our physical offices are currently closed due to the ongoing health restrictions in place to manage the spread of COVID-19. This internship may be conducted 100% remotely if needed.
