SPN 452: Spanish Language for the Medical Professions

FS24 TR 12:40 – 2:00 p.m., 3cr

If you’re interested in a career in the health professions, Asst. Prof. Zenaida Moreno-Mosqueda has designed a course for you. SPN 452 Medical Spanish is tailored to students who plan on providing medical services in cross-cultural settings that require effective communication in Spanish. The goal is to enhance both linguistic skills and intercultural awareness. To accomplish this, you will of course concentrate on linguistic content (vocabulary, grammar review, reading, listening, and speaking tasks) relevant to the medical field. But you will also learn about pertinent cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world.

Why study medical Spanish? Because it will prepare you to better understand and assess patients’ needs and provide a better experience and quality of care. Knowing medical Spanish can also expand your professional opportunities.
