Sponsored by the Association of Gender & Sexuality Studies (AEGS in Spanish), the College of Arts & Letters, and the Department of Romance and Classical Studies at Michigan State University, and published by MSU Press (online in JSTOR and print on demand) since 2020.
REGS/JGSS is one of the earliest academic journals to be devoted strictly to gender-related and sexuality issues, women authors, and feminist theory in the context of Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian, and US-Latinx literature and cultures. Available online in JSTOR, SPC at Duke University Press and, since January 2023, in Project MUSE.
The biannual, peer-reviewed journal was first published in the Spring 1975 at the University of Colorado, Denver, and has been published without interruption since then. In addition to critical articles on gender or gender-related topics, REGS features unpublished work by Spanish, Latin American, and Latinx authors, poets and playwrights, interviews with writers, artists, filmmakers, and critics, and a substantial book review section in every issue.
Every year, one Editorial Assistant is selected among the graduate students of the Doctoral Program in Hispanic and Cultural Studies in our department to work with the Editor-in-Chief and REGS editorial team. For more information about the editorial graduate assistantship, contact the Department Chairperson, Professor Tony Grubbs, or Professor R. Quispe-Agnoli.
