FRN 450: Perspectives in the Cultures of the Francosphere

Fall and Spring of Every Year | 1-4 credits

What do myths, movements, and identity have in common?
They all help us understand how culture is created, challenged, and reimagined. In FRN 450, you’ll explore powerful themes—like Francophone women, the uses of myth, and the individual in society—through stories, art, and ideas from across time and place.

In this course, you’ll:

  • Dive into rotating themes that shift each semester
  • Analyze cultural texts spanning genres, formats, and historical periods
  • Uncover how literature and art reflect and question social norms
  • Expand your cultural lens within the global Francophone world

With flexible credit hours (14) and fresh topics each term, this course adapts to your schedule and your curiosity. Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of Francophone societies, explore intersections of identity and culture, or simply engage with powerful ideas through compelling texts and media, FRN 450 invites you to take your learning in new directions.
