After many years of delaying a passion to pursue French, Eric decided to return to Michigan State University to study an MA in French and Francophone Studies. This comes years after his BA degree in French and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, an MA in Spanish from Western Michigan University, and a PhD in Hispanic Cultural Studies from Michigan State University. His interest in French began during an agricultural work exchange to Belgium in high school, and later in Quebec where he studied at Université Laval for four summer immersion programs and later taught ESL classes to Francophones.

Eric is an Associate Professor at Ferris State University where he teaches all undergraduate levels of Spanish, as well as introductory French.  He has led many study abroad programs to Costa Rica and currently works on a partial release as a Faculty-in-Residence in the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning at Ferris State University.  For over a decade, Eric was also a part-time interpreter and translator (English-Spanish; Spanish-English) for the Telamon Corporation and Michigan Migrant Head Start program.
