Hannah Olsen is a PhD candidate in French and Francophone Studies at Michigan State University. She also holds a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender studies. Her dissertation, titled  “‘C’est toujours un drame’ ?: First-Person Narratives of Abortion, Contraception, and Family Planning in France in the Post-loi-Veil Era, 1975-1991”, explores women’s experiences accessing abortion and contraception, particularly in immigrant communities and in rural France, after their legalization. She is the 2023-2024 recipient of the Bourse Jeanne Marandon from the Société des professeurs français et francophone d’Amérique. Her research has also been supported by the Center for Gender in Global Context at MSU.
