In March 2023, the French and Francophone Studies Program hosted an open house to launch its new degree requirements. Majors, minors, graduate students, faculty and even deans all got together to share a snack, play some games and, most importantly, to talk over the new program curriculum.
The new program and classes offer students greater flexibility, both in terms of sequencing classes and the freedom to create their own programs. Once students complete all 300-level classes, they choose all of their 400-level electives and can pursue personal interests in cultural studies, literature and artistic production, the French language, and/or professional uses of the language. All classes have been revised to include a variety of voices from the various regions of the world who share French.
