In early December, two faculty members Scott Boehm and Rocío Quispe-Agnoli received prestigious grants from the MSU Research Foundation to fund their projects. The Humanities and Arts Research Program (HARP) Development Grants provide funding to select faculty members conducting research for large-scale creative projects within the arts and humanities.
Scott Boehm and Pete Johnston were awarded a prestigious HARP large-scale development grant to work on their film “OUR KNOTTED GUN – Gun Violence Documentary.” They have created a Web site for the project, where viewers can check out a trailer. Among his several endeavors, Boehm is Assistant Professor of 20th/21st Spanish Culture. He is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and founded the MSU Latinx Film Festival in 2017 to celebrate and promote independent Latinx cinema.
Rocio Quispe-Agnoli was awarded the HARP production grant to fund her publication, Qhipa Pacha: Futurismo Peruano: A Bilingual Anthology. Presently, Quispe-Agnoli is Professor of Colonial Latin American Studies but holds multiple academic positions within the department. She has received many awards for her creative writing pursuits and professional work, and she is currently working on this publication on Peruvian Futurism–one of the first efforts to share science fiction from the deep roots and ancestry of Peruvian culture.
