FS22 MW 12:40 – 2:00 p.m., 3 cr
In this course, Dr. Valentina Denzel. offered her students a look at the history of French and Francophone comics in their historical and political context. At the end of the course, students created their own comic strips in French as their final projects.
Most worked with a partner to develop a topic of their choice: some integrated important historical events discussed in class, others tackled socio-political questions outside of the Francosphere. Still others rewrote conventional tales, including “Santa Claus and his Reindeer”. All these projects highlight the creativity and engagement of the students, as well as their capacity to connect class material with topics they hold dear.
