Congratulations to Mariam Sayed, an MSU French alumna, for being one of 8 MSU students/alumni nominated for the prestigious Marshall Scholarship. This is a prestigious awards providing U.S. students full financial support for graduate study in the United Kingdom. Every year, only 50 exceptional individuals are chosen for their potential to be future leaders and innovators. These scholars aren’t just talented—they’re also curious, driven, and committed to tackling challenges across a wide range of fields.

Mariam’s time at MSU was exceptional with the balance of academic excellence and hands-on experience. As a research assistant, she studied language development in infants and young children, diving deep into how we acquire language. At the same time, she was also a teaching assistant for chemistry courses, showcasing her ability to cross between disciplines with ease. Her unique combination of expertise in physiology and language learning led her to conduct fascinating research that connected the dots between these fields.

After graduating, Mariam became a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in Morocco, where she had the chance to expand her research and immerse herself in a new culture. From there, she joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Clinical Research Fellow, contributing to medical research. Despite these global opportunities, Mariam continues to carry MSU with her wherever she goes.
