Step Into the Future with Prof. Rocío Quispe-Agnoli’s New Book: Qhipa Pacha: Futurismo Peruano/Peruvian Futurism

The Department of Romance and Classical Studies congratulates Prof. Rocío Quispe-Agnoli on the release of Qhipa Pacha: Futurismo Peruano/Peruvian Futurism. A Bilingual Anthology, her latest book. This collection offers an exciting take on science fiction by blending elements of Peru’s past with imaginative visions of the future. Through stories inspired by pre-Hispanic myths and ancient technologies like quipus, the anthology’s authors rethink the possibilities of what lies ahead, all through the lens of Peru’s cultural identity.

Qhipa Pacha takes readers on a journey across time, weaving together ancestral memory, urban futures, and space explorations. These narratives push beyond traditional science fiction, offering alternative perspectives rooted in Peruvian history and heritage. The writers also tackle modern themes, such as life after a pandemic, human evolution, and the influence of artificial intelligence, inviting readers to explore not just futuristic worlds but the ideas shaping them.
